Los desarrolladores de esta distribución basada en Ubuntu han anunciado la disponibilidad de Elementary OS Luna Beta 2, la segunda versión preliminar que llega cinco meses después de la Beta 1 y que ha integrado numerosas mejoras que los responsables cifran en más de 300 entre correcciones y novedades.
Entre ellas destacan un mejor soporte para la internacionalización, el soporte para múltiples pantallas -se han solucionado problemas con Plank y Wingpanel-, o las mejoras visuales que afectan a la elección de las tipografías (con su fuente para títulos, Raleway, como protagonista) o a los cambios en iconos, barras de estado o botones que mejoran la accesibilidad.
En cuanto a las aplicaciones nativas, también ha habido cambios. Tenemos Shotwell 0.14.1 (con mejor soporte RAW y mejor integración de Facebook), Midori 0.5, Music (antes Noise) que ha mejorado en todas sus funciones de reproducción y gestión de la biblioteca de audio, o Geary 0.3.1, el cliente de correo que ahora soporta múltiples cuentas.
Los desarrolladores también nos hablan de mejoras en el flujo de trabajo con el teclado y los atajos (por ejemplo, podremos mover ventanas con la tecla Command /Alt (en Mac / Windows) y pinchar y arrastrar. Switchboard -el panel de preferencias de Elementary OS- ofrece la capacidad de cambiar los temas al Dock, se han añadido alertas visuales cuando las ventanas se abren en el Dock, y se ha cambiado Maya a Calendar, además de soportarse instalaciones UEFI (aunque no se dice nada de Secure Boot).
